Hartenbos · Mossel Bay · Garden Route

Grow old facing the sea.

A village on an elevated ridge inside a 54-hectare eco estate, fifteen kilometres from Mossel Bay. Homes, apartments and full nursing care, all on the same piece of ground.

What the village is for

Three things we promise, and keep.

Gemoedsrus

Peace of mind

Controlled access, a nursing sister on the estate every day, and help that arrives in minutes rather than in an hour. Your children stop worrying too.

Onskatbare waarde

Priceless value

Sectional title ownership with no transfer duty, and levies set transparently and kept deliberately low, so the village stays affordable for the people already in it.

Smee herinneringe

Forging memories

Grandchildren on the lawn, whales in the bay in spring, sundowners while the Outeniquas go pink. These years are meant to be the good ones.

Care

Care that moves at your pace.

Almost everyone arrives fully independent. The point of a village is that when things change, you don't have to move town, leave your friends, or start again somewhere unfamiliar. Every level of care is on this estate.

  1. Independent living

Your own home or apartment, your own routine, your own front door. Security, maintenance and the clubhouse are simply there in the background.

  2. The daily clinic

Open every day on the estate, for the things that would otherwise mean a morning in a waiting room.

    • Injections, dressings and wound care
    • Monitoring of ongoing tests and readings
    • Medical advice, and referral to a doctor when needed
    • Observation and reassurance

  3. Home-based care

Carers come to you, in your own home, for as much or as little as you need — bathing, medication, meals, company. Nothing about your address changes.

  4. Assisted living and frail care

A purpose-built centre in the middle of the village, so family and friends are a short walk away rather than a drive across town.

    • Treatment room and nurses' station
    • Frail care rooms with video monitoring
    • Emergency ambulance services
    • Qualified nursing staff on duty

The people here

You'll know them all by name inside a fortnight.

A village is its staff. These are the people who run the office, the clinic, the kitchen and the grounds.

Where you'd be

High on the ridge, mountains behind, the whole bay in front.

Much of the estate is kept as natural fynbos, which is why the birdlife is what it is. Botlierskop is up the road. So is the coast — whales in season, Seal Island, long empty beaches. There is more golf inside half an hour than most people get through in a year.

  • Mild, even climate — warm summers, gentle winters
  • One of the safest parts of the country
  • Mossel Bay hospital, shops and services 15 km away
  • George Airport roughly 40 minutes by car

The layout

Everything within a walk.

The clubhouse and the care centre sit in the middle, with the homes and apartments arranged around them. Nothing on the estate is more than a few minutes on foot, which is the whole idea — the day you stop driving should not be the day your life narrows.
